Oct 07 :: South Bay Music Awards :: Halloween CD Release :: Canyon w/AWB!
Bob has been nominated for Songwriter of the Year and Blues Group/Artist of the Year here in L.A. in this year's South Bay Music Awards, your vote determines the win! So if you can spare twenty seconds or so, click here at cast your vote! Feeling that the "Monster Mash" was beginning to sound a little threadbare and frayed around the edges, my old friend Paul Zollo and I decided we'd record a new Halloween song. One that, like the aforementioned old chestnut, would rise from the dead every October and generate happiness for kids of all ages, not to mention a nice royalty check. Zollo is an excellent songwriter and also a well known rock journalist (his latest book was the best-selling "Conversations with Tom Petty"). He wrote the song, and I arranged it and sang it and played it. In honor of this fine new recording, we are having a CD Release Concert and Costume Party on Sunday October 28 at Molly Malone's in Los Angeles. The Malone Band will be back once again at the Canyon in Agoura Hills on Friday, November 16, this time to open for 70s funk ledgends Average White Band. I've got a limited supply of $10 tickets for the show, so if you want some, send me an email and I'll make sure you get 'em! If you haven't been, The Canyon is a great venue with great soud and lights - one of the best places to see us do our show! I've done many a gig with AWB over the years, so it's sure to be a fun night.

Thanks to Richard Leiter for that one!

July 2007 :: Malone at Mint - In Keyboard Magazine, On XM Satellite Radio (still) We are busy working on a new CD, and I have been on the road for most of the year, so there's only one show in July, but it'll be a good one: the historic Mint in Los Angeles. July 20, 9:00, we play for an hour. Also, I was just interviewed for an article in Keyboard Magazine, which will be out in a month or two. This is a fulfillment of a childhood dream I had to be in this very same magazine... finally! I'm quite excited. I also heard recently from a fan in PA that he heard me on XM Radio's Bluesville, which means the latest CD, Born Too Late, is still in rotation after a full year! Thanks to the mayor of Bluesville, Bill Wax, for making all that possible!

June 2007 :: Malone Band Rocks Canyon Club w/Leon Russell We had an un-believeable night opening for Leon Russell at Canyon Club. Besides all of Leon's many fans, there were over 100 Malone fans in the crowd - it was so great to see you all there - your support makes it all possible! We made a lot of new fans and friends that night. It was a real pleasure to share the stage with a living legend like Leon, A great night...we will do it again soon!

May 2007 :: Northeast Tour - Barns at Wolf Trap and More! After six weeks of globe-trotting, I am a body finally at rest. My Northeastern tour was great, though. I made my annual stop at Godfrey Daniels, and had a great stay at Space Mountain (that's the home of Godfrey's booker Mike Space, by the way), then I did a show with The Bobs at the Barns at Wolf Trap in DC. Definately one of my most favorite places to play, and what a spectacular crowd it was. I sold so many CDs I had to have the wife amil me some more! Next was the Living Room in NYC - some YouTube footage from that should be surfacing shortly, and then the Towne Crier with Roomful of Blues - Roomful was great, as always, and we had a very fun night. I finished the trip out with a fun show at Bodle's Opera House, splitting the bill with my good pal, the extremely hilarious Carla Ulbrich. We did a couple of very crude songs together at the end. And that always goes over big with the people that like to come to see us!

April 2007 :: Aus-tralia/New Zealand Tour A Success
I just got back from Australia and New Zealand and I'm nowhere near over the jet-lag. Tomorrow I fly to the East Coast to start a quick five-date tour, and then I'm done for a while. Five weeks on the road and I'm pooped. I hate my suitcase. And it's a pretty nice suitcase. I just can't stand to look at it anymore, let alone pull another wrinkled, unclean article of clothing from it. Oh well, like I always say...it beats having a real job. By the way, Australia was awesome, and New Zealand was magical...they sure are far away from here - they're far away from everywhere - but if you ever get a chance to go, don't miss it. And those of you that already live there, welcome to the mailing list, and thanks for being so great to play music for! I'll be back for sure. When I'm more coherent, I'll whip up a blog about the trip. In June, back here in Southern California, I'll be doing a few gigs, including a show opening for Leon Russell at Canyon Club in Agoura Hills on June 14.
