“AIN'T WHAT YOU KNOW” HAS FOUR NOMINATIONS IN THE JUST PLAIN FOLKS 2009 MUSIC AWARDS
The new album, "Ain't What You Know," has four nominations in this year's Just Plain Folks Music Awards (called the "Grammys of the Independent Music World" by the L.A. Times). These were picked from a field of 42,000 albums and 560,000 songs. Here are the stats:

Best Male Singer/Songwriter Album: "Ain’t What You Know”
Best Contemporary Song: “Saint Christopher”
Best Cover Song: “Stay With Me”
Best Male Singer/Songwriter Song: “Butterfly”

Also, three other projects I was involved with have nominations as well:

Best Female Singer/Songwriter Album: Amy Engelhardt (from The Bobs) - "Ain't Gonna Be Pretty"

Bob at SXSW — The Burnside Dist. Showcase at Threadgill's. Bob's distributor, Burnside Distribution, has asked him to play at their 5th Annual party/showcase at South by Southwest. Showtime is at 2:30 and it will be on the mainstage at Threadgills South in Austin, TX. Bob will be backed by some fine local musicians, and a great time will be had by all!

Bob Malone, the Mint, Seattle-Portland, with Rickie Lee Jones. Thanks to all of you who came out to see me play with Rickie Lee Jones at the Echoplex, a club so hip I couldn't even find it, and I was playing there! I will be doing a run of dates with The Bobs in Seattle and Portland in March - Triple Door, Mississippi Studios, Rose Theatre, and the fabulous Mositure Festival...not to be missed! April 3 is our next big Mint axtravaganza in L.A. - those tables go fast, so make your reservations NOW!

Bob Malone wins Songwriter of the Year at South Bay Music Awards. Thanks to all of the fans that cast their votes and made Bob winner of the 2007 South Bay Music Awards Songwriter of the Year!

South Bay Music Awards Nomination, Halloween CD Release and Canyon w/AWB! Bob has been nominated for Songwriter of the Year and Blues Group/Artist of the Year here in L.A. in this year's South Bay Music Awards, your vote determines the win! So if you can spare twenty seconds or so, click here to cast your vote! Feeling that the "Monster Mash" was beginning to sound a little threadbare and frayed around the edges, my old friend Paul Zollo and I decided we'd record a new Halloween song. One that, like the aforementioned old chestnut, would rise from the dead every October and generate happiness for kids of all ages, not to mention a nice royalty check. Zollo is an excellent songwriter and also a well known rock journalist (his latest book was the best-selling "Conversations with Tom Petty"). He wrote the song, and I arranged it and sang it and played it. In honor of this fine new recording, we are having a CD Release Concert and Costume Party on Sunday October 28 at Molly Malone's in Los Angeles. The Malone Band will be back once again at the Canyon in Agoura Hills on Friday, November 16, this time to open for 70s funk legends Average White Band. I've got a limited supply of $10 tickets for the show, so if you want some, send me an email and I'll make sure you get 'em! If you haven't been, The Canyon is a great venue with great soud and lights - one of the best places to see us do our show! I've done many a gig with AWB over the years, so it's sure to be a fun night.
