Bob Malone
Like It Or Not
Delta Moon Records #CDF0205
"I wish my life was half as cool as people make it out to be ‘Cause I’ve heard things so hard to believe
That even I could live my own life vicariously
But sometimes I wish I were me.
Such is the life of the incomparable Bob Malone, pianist/vocalist/composer and all-around entertainer. The only thing more entertaining than listening to his latest CD is to catch his live set…which is exactly what you should have done not long ago, when he opened for Fred Eaglesmith at The Palms.
Malone has graced the Palms stage on several occasions, and never fails to impress.
Malone is an absolutely amazing pianist, and "Like It Or Not" is a good example of how a smart pianist can compose enjoyable music, though there’s nothing on the disc that features his fast-flying fingers…a treat he apparently reserves for a good, high-energy crowd.
The disc itself contains a special ballad about an afternoon in the city called "Meet Me In Manhattan." This song is so good that – given the opportunity – it should become one of the all-time great New York musical stories.
