Get In Here!

Greetings From West Texas:
I'm writing to you from the Top Cat catfish and gumbo joint in Midland, TX. This place is just what the doctor ordered. Besides the fact that the food is great (I'm having a very credible oyster Po Boy right now) and the service is friendly (after all, this is Texas, darlin'), there's a big sign on the front door that says GET IN HERE!!! I love that.
I'm at the end of my Son Of The Son of Crawl Across Texas II tour, and it's been much fun. The highlight of the trip for me was the Riverfront Blues Festival in Fort Smith, AR. I got to be on the same bill with Dr. John and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, the gig came with a room at the Holiday Inn, and the backstage RV had a fully stocked bar. If that isn't a good day's work, I don't know what is. The other highlight of the trip was hanging out with some friends of mine in Wimberly, TX. It's a beautiful little town in the Hill Country and my friends live in a house right on this creek that runs through town. We went down there at night and drank Shiner Bocks and fed El Gato, the big catfish that patrols the creek. It was idyllic, to say the least.
Speaking of idyllic, I'll be in Northern California in October (that would be this month), and it would be great to see you all at my gigs, since I really don't know when I'll be back. Also, for those of you in the bay area, if you haven't see me in the round w/Dave Nachmanoff & Keith Greeninger, you don't know what you're missing. We played together at The Palms Playhouse in May and it was a really special night. Local Pacifica singer/songwriter and Kerrville finalist Jay Howlett joins us. See you there!
Love, Bob
