Hi Y'all: So I'm supposed to have dinner with this friend of mine and he insists we go to this health food restaurant. I begged, I pleaded…all to no avail. We were going. And as if this wasn't bad enough, on the way there we walked right past my favorite L.A. restaurant – the Ragin’ Cajun Cafe (with the sweet smell of crawfish ettoufeé and red beans & rice taunting me mercilessly the whole way), and a sushi joint ("It's fish," I said, "we can eat fish, can't we?" My friend looked at me like I was the Antichrist and kept walking). So we get there, and after a quick perusal of the menu I immediately see that my evening sustenance is going to consist of chewing grass (not only can we not eat cows but we have to eat like cows as well). The waiter comes over and I realize I must choose between the lesser of several evils so I order this burger that's made of nuts and vegetables and tofu and stuff like that ("you'll really like it," my healthy friend says). I'll spare you the tragic details of the ensuing meal but needless to say, after dinner I drove as fast as I could to the nearest In-N-Out Burger and ordered a Double-Double with extra onions and fries and a large root beer.Many thanks to the new fans that signed up for this mailing list after hearing us on the 101.9 Local Music Spotlight this month and thanks again to Mimi Chen for playing the music. The new CD is called The Darkest Part of the Night and it will be out in December. I am a semi-finalist in the 5th Annual Boston Acoustic Underground Singer-Songwriter Contest and I'll be going out there to play this month (wish me luck). Come on out and see us this month, dammit!
